BIENVENIDOS

Welcome to La Puerta Spanish Center!   Founded in 2017, La Puerta Spanish Center has the privilege of helping students achieve their Spanish language goals- whatever those might be!

ERIKA SáNCHEZ

Erika began learning Spanish as a freshman in high school and went on to earn her BA in Spanish from Sam Houston State University.  She has experience teaching Spanish in grades K-12 in the public school system in Texas.  Her interest in Spanish has taken her to Spain, Argentina, and Mexico.  She lived in Mexico City for 2 years where she was immersed in the language and culture as she lived with Mexican families.  She has first-hand knowledge of what it takes to learn Spanish as a second language and looks forward to sharing her experiences with you!

ALONDRA REYES

Ms. Alondra lives in Georgia and her parents are originally from Mexico. She has 3 children and enjoys spending time with family, swimming and taking pictures. Her background is in the medical field, but after her 2nd child was born she transitioned to the world of online teaching. Her favorite thing about virtual teaching is meeting students and making a connection with them across the world/country! She makes all of her classes fun and energetic in order to keep the students engaged. She can't wait to meet your littles and help them learn the Spanish language!

Mary McPherson

Mary grew up in the US but decided in 2008 that she wanted to spend 2 years living in Mexico and, well…here she is 13 years later with a Mexican husband, and three lovely Mexican American daughters and she wouldn’t have it any other way! She was exposed to the Spanish language at a young age but it didn’t become her passion until High School. As an Elementary Education graduate, she also had the opportunity to specialize in Spanish and travel to several Spanish speaking countries where her passion really flourished. She has been teaching for 13 years, 10 of which were in a private school setting in Mexico and for the past 3 years she has been able to homeschool her bilingual children. She has a passion for the Spanish language (and Mexican food!) and believes it is one of the most valuable gifts we can give and acquire: the ability to speak another language and connect with other people and cultures (and in our biased opinion- Spanish really is the best!) She looks forward to the opportunity to expose and engage others in learning a language that is sure to capture their heart and open doors for them in the future!

Laura White

Laura started her life in a military family and has visited and lived in 14 countries. She gained a global perspective and learned the benefits and joys of learning a new skills. As a native Spanish speaker, and mom of three, she understands the excitement and challenges of acquiring a new language at any age.
Laura is a U.S. Navy veteran and has her Bachelor's of Psychology.
She has previously worked and volunteered in the public school system as a teacher and translator.
