Sobre Nosotros
At La Puerta Spanish Center, we believe learning Spanish should be an adventure filled with discovery, creativity, and connection. Our name, La Puerta—which means “The Door”—reflects our mission to open doors to new cultures, new opportunities, and a lifelong love of language. Through engaging lessons, music, games, movement, conversation, and cultural experiences, we create an environment where students feel excited to learn and confident using Spanish in meaningful ways. Whether joining us for semester classes, summer camps, or virtual learning, every student is welcomed with encouragement, enthusiasm, and plenty of ¡diversión!
Proudly serving families throughout Parker County and beyond, La Puerta is more than a Spanish program—it's a community where language comes to life. We believe the best learning happens when students are actively engaged, having fun, and building real connections to the language and cultures they are exploring. Our goal is not just to teach Spanish, but to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a broader view of the world...one hola, gracias, and ¡sí se puede! at a time.
¡Hola! I'm Erika Sánchez
I'm the founder of La Puerta Spanish Education, and I'm passionate about helping students discover that learning Spanish is about so much more than memorizing vocabulary—it's about opening doors to new cultures, meaningful relationships, and exciting opportunities.
My own Spanish journey began as a freshman in high school and eventually led me to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Sam Houston State University. Along the way, I've had the privilege of teaching Spanish to students in grades K–12 throughout Texas. My passion for the language has also taken me around the Spanish-speaking world, including Spain, Argentina, and Mexico. I spent two years living in Mexico City, where I was fully immersed in the language and culture while living with local families. Those experiences gave me firsthand insight into what it truly takes to learn a second language, and they continue to shape the way I teach today; with patience, encouragement, and plenty of fun.
La Puerta Spanish Education started in 2018 around my kitchen table with just five students and a simple belief: learning Spanish should be exciting, meaningful, and fun. I wanted to create classes where students didn't just memorize vocabulary... instead, they experience the language through games, conversation, music, traditions, celebrations, and authentic cultural experiences. My goal has always been to inspire a lifelong love of Spanish while helping students build the confidence to use it in the real world. Today, we're proud to serve more than 250 students each week, but our mission remains exactly the same: opening doors through Spanish education.
At La Puerta, we believe that learning Spanish opens doors...to new friendships, new cultures, new perspectives, and a world of possibilities.
The world is knocking... open the door!
